Where I Skate - Marle Grey Tee
‘Where I Skate’ aims to widely acknowledge that no matter where we skate in Australia, we are skating on unceded Indigenous country.
In August we invite you to reflect on where you skate with us. Across the month we will share, celebrate, and amplify First Nations voices to educate ourselves and our community on Indigenous Sovereignty and rights in this nation.
‘Where I Skate’ Art was created by @leondesignco Keisha, who is a Waanyi & Kalkadoon women and is currently living, working and learning to skate on Yuggera & Turrabul Country. Keisha says that the 'design acknowledges First Nations people as the traditional custodians of the Country, with the pathways representing the topographic landscapes of the Country and songlines that travel over the lands in which we gather, tell our stories, and our history. The bridging lines connect and unite us, and strengthen our knowledge and connection to Country. The lifework also links to fluidity of movement and skating.'
Keisha & Rollerfit came together again to release ‘Where I Skate’ t-shirts with all proceeds for the ‘Where I Skate’ tees, crops and pins this month will go towards @seedmob (www.seedmob.org.au) Seed is Australia’s first Indigenous youth climate network. Working towards a sustainable future with strong cultures and communities, powered by renewable energy.
